Punjab Kings’ new head coach, Ricky Ponting, is excited and ready for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which is just days away.
The former Australian World Cup-winning captain believes the team has a strong squad this season and is determined to bring home the trophy.
During a recent event with meta creators at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, Ponting shared his thoughts about the team’s preparations and mindset.
The event brought together popular digital creators like Jhumroo (Arun Singh), Keshav Ashish, Aditya Shukla, and Sukriti, who got an inside look at the Punjab Kings’ strategy and vision for the season.
Punjab Kings Focused on Building a Winning Team
Saurabh Arora, Chief Commercial Officer of Punjab Kings, emphasized the importance of engaging with the community and showcasing the team’s journey.
“This event allowed creators to experience the world-class facilities at our new stadium and understand how we are working hard both on and off the field,” he said.
Ponting made it clear that winning the IPL is the team’s ultimate goal.
“From the very first day at our training camp in Dharamshala, I told the players that we were going to build the best Punjab Kings team ever. Success doesn’t come overnight, but we are on that journey,” he stated.
Winning Mindset is Key
Ponting stressed the importance of having the right attitude.
“Winning is all about mindset. When we step onto the field, we won’t let the opposition take anything away from us. We are here to dominate and give our best in every game,” he added.
The coach also praised the balance of young and experienced players in the squad, which he believes will play a crucial role in their success.
He highlighted young talents like Priyansh Arya, who he sees as a promising opening batsman, and Suryansh Shedge, who has been impressive in training.
Another player who caught his attention is Musheer Khan. “Musheer has an infectious energy and attitude. He has already brought a lot of positivity to the team,” Ponting said.
Overseas Players to Lead the Way
Ponting is relying on experienced overseas players to set an example for the younger members of the team.
“Our young Indian players look up to the overseas guys. If they lead by example, it will push the whole team to perform better. I trust them to be strong role models,” he explained.
Punjab Kings’ IPL 2025 Campaign Begins Soon
Punjab Kings will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign on March 25 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After an away match against Lucknow Super Giants, they will return to their home ground, the New PCA Stadium, to face Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
With a motivated coach, a well-balanced squad, and a winning mindset, Punjab Kings are ready to make a strong impact in IPL 2025.
